Interview: Laser Weaponry

Laser weaponry is slowly coming into military departments. In my earlier article I I talked about the Boeing YAL-1 that U.S. Defense Dept was developing.  Now I interview retired military veteran, Ernest, about laser weaponry.

1. What impact do you see from laser weaponry in military?

More fire power on target with less loss of life for us. Target is easier to identify and paint a target for the missle to zero in on target within a millimeter

2. What are the negatives this weaponry would make?

Confirm target, one shot and target is gone, but you need eyes on target
to guide the missile in. Which makes that misguided percentage the target won’t always hit its target.

3. What laws would be placed for this type of weaponry?

Gevena Convention and solid Rules of Engagement to minimize the loss of innocent life, but allow a quick decision.  The enemy will not wait around.

4. Do you see the punishments changing due to the different weaponary?

It needs to, the weapon capabilities must be taken in account, however too often laws are lagging behind.  This creates a Gray area to hold individuals accountable to.

5. Do you see yourself to ever use laser weaponry? Why?

IF the need arises, the situation will dicate the action one must take.

7. What are the specific requirements these weapons might employ?

To save soldiers lives in any battle.  You do not have to commit ground troops.

6. Any other personal comments you would like to make on this subject?

Key addresses need to be noticed; one enemy forces using  inoccent cilivilians as Human Sheilds – UN does not take this in to account.  These weapons cause serious damage and human deaths, but they are effective, and can not tell the good from the bad when they are launched.

This really brings attention the political and military troubles that can arise. Along with the gray area that makes solutions so hard to find. Any opinions wanting to make a statement on this go ahead to the comment link.
